Acquired by Litton Industries in 1999 who were in turn bought by Northrup Grumman in 2001 and Avondale were merged with Ingalls Shipbuilding as Northrup Grumman Ship Systems. Demerged in 2011 together with Newport News Shipbuilding to form Huntington Ingalls Industries.
