East Asiatic Company
Formed in 1897. Diversified into many ares of shipping over the following decades, but subsequently divested itself of shipping interests. Container ship operations were merged with Ben Line Containers in 1991 to form EacBen which was subsequently sold to A.P. Moller in 1993. The dry bulk division was acquired by the Eitzen Group in 1995.
