Merged with other upper Clyde yards in 1968 to form Upper Clyde Shipbuilders which collapsed in 1971. Following a strike and work-in, the yard was re-formed as Govan Shipbuilders in 1972. Formed the subsiduary Scotstoun Marine in 1972 on the former site of Charles Connell and Co. In common with other British yards, nationalised as part of British Shipbuilders in 1977. Subsequently re-privatised in 1988 and sold to the Kværner group as Kværner Govan. Acquired by BAE Systems in 1999 and now part of BAE Systems Surface Ships.
